《道政坊宅》（出《乾𦠆子》）人居者“必大遭凶禍”，房次卿假住累月無患，李直方曰：“是先輩凶於宅。”按此亦嘲謔匡格，古希臘小詩謂蝮蛇嚙一人，其人無恙而蛇則死矣，蓋人毒於蝮也（An evil viper once bit a Cappadocian，but it died itself，havingtasted the venomous blood）。仿作甚多，如有言渾家人病疫死，一悍婦獨勿藥瘳，此婦凶於疫鬼也（the yellow Fiend in Lust and Pride/Would clasp a Fury as his Bride/And the Plague died of fierce Jane Burr）。
